Welcome to my blog xx
Welcome! I’m not sure how you found your way here, but I’m glad you did. In 331 days I am leaving my city and embarking on an adventure with my boyfriend and so I wanted to create a travel blog to document my travels and have something to look back on when I’m older. I then realised that the blog should start from before we left so that I could write about the whole process. So here we are, my name is Heather May and this is my new blog. I am 24 years old, my boyfriend’s name is Nick and he’s 26 and we both love film photography and reading. While I’ve travelled Europe and the UK before, Nick hasn't been out of the country so not only am I excited for our trip together in general, I’m excited to take him outside of where he has grown up.
I guess I’ll just get started. Last week we booked our one way ticket. We’re flying into Rome and we’ll make our way through Italy, France and the Netherlands before heading across to the UK and travelling from the bottom of the island up to the top. After 2 months of travelling we’ll come back down and settle into Bristol. In terms of planning it all, I think I’m getting too far ahead of myself. We’ve already booked our first two Airbnb’s in Italy and I’m wanting to book the rest of them as soon as we can. However I am being validated in my want to hurry the booking along as a few of the places we wanted to book on Airbnb have been booked by others, so I’m not totally out of my mind to want to get a jump on it now. But I’m getting itchy, I want to start planning what we’re going to do and see in each city now! My excitement is slowly taking over. I couldn’t sleep properly the first two nights after booking our plane tickets because I was so excited, I just kept imagining us walking through the streets of Exeter and my pointing out places where I grew up or visited. I’ve been wanting to make this journey and move over for years, a fundamental part of me that knew it couldn’t be denied. I’ve felt the pull of the northern hemisphere in my soul since my family moved us back Australia after the first 11 years of my life. I don’t know what exactly is awaiting me on this trip, but I cannot wait to greet it with open arms and dive in head first with the love of my life.
I don’t want to turn this into too much of a sob story, but I’ve been wanting and needing this to happen for a while. Anyway, the point of this post was to outline what you could expect from this blog. Covering the process of travelling and moving, our thoughts as we get closer to our departure date, our remaining experiences in Adelaide and Australia before we leave, our experiences in the cities we visit overseas and finally the chronicle of our time making Bristol our own. I hope you enjoy reading this blog as well as the other creative displays on my website, I know I can’t wait to write about it. Until next time, farewell <3.
