Valentine’s Day <3

I am well aware how late this is, but let’s just ignore that for now and continue! Somehow I was very lucky this Valentine’s Day and had two dinners to attend over the weekend. On the Friday night Nick and I were to attend La Louisiane and Saturday night was to be Coco Bello. La Lou is a gorgeous French restaurant in Adelaide City on King William street that serenades you with soft live jazz music as you eat. Their interior is absolutely stunning and transports you into a Parisian speakeasy where debauchery is king. I’d been to La Lou previously but never to eat, only for a drink or two so I was very excited to finally be sampling their food menu. Before we were even seated I knew that I was wanting to order their famous steak frites for dinner but I still wanted to look at the rest of the menu before I decided. For drinks we both ordered a glass of wine, Nick and red and myself a white. We both ended up ordering the steak frites with a shared side of buttered green vegetables. I have to admit, as soon as our food was brought out and the steak placed in front of me it was love at first sight. And my god it was love at first bite too. The meat was so tender, and it had been cooked in a delicious sauce with garlic butter spread over the top. It was the best steak I’ve ever eaten. If you’re one to eat meat then I would highly, HIGHLY recommend the steak frites at La Lou. For dessert we shared their delectable crème brûlée. It was deliciously creamy and caramelised and just melted in your mouth. I’m now a crème brûlée convert. It was a beautiful dinner in a beautiful restaurant and the whole night was extremely special. The atmosphere within the dining room had an air of relaxation as well as sophistication. Laid back but lazily luxurious. I think La Louisiane is a strong contender for my favourite high end restaurant in Adelaide.

Now for our second Valentine’s dinner of the weekend! This time, we were headed to Coco Bello on Glen Osmond road in Frewville. Coco Bello is a bright Italian restaurant that feels both cozy and high end. When we arrived, we were 10 minutes early for our reservation. I’m very glad that traffic had been kind to us and given us these extra 10 minutes, because when we stepped out of our Uber we were greeted with a line! Since Valentine’s Day was on a Saturday this year it was very understandable that any place would’ve been busy, reservation or no. But this time also allowed us to just talk to one another before our dinner as well as observe the restaurant from outside before being seated. Inside there were many art pieces scattered around the walls of the restaurant and it made the interior more elevated than a regular restaurant. We were seated in their main dining room and right next to our table there was a an alcove that housed a beautiful little tree as well as some additional art pieces. It was really cool to have that right next to me. Now because it was an ‘event’ that night, our dinner came from a set menu. For starters we received arancini balls, wagyu beef and parmesan and calamari. I’d never had calamari before but I really enjoyed them! Nick’s favourite was the arancini balls, which is fair enough because they were delicious. For mains we chose the beef ragu pasta dish and the fried barramundi in a tomato based sauce. Both were absolutely delicious. The barramundi just melted in your mouth, and the beef ragu sauce was phenomenal. At this point we were both absolutely stuffed to the brim of amazing food, so when they brought out the biggest tiramisu I’d ever seen I became very worried for my stomach. It was a delicious dessert but neither of us could properly appreciate it due to the fact that we were so full. Thankfully we weren’t that embarrassed to leave the tiramisu unfinished because most other tables had done the same thing. We left Coco Bello completely fed and with boxes of leftovers.

All in all it was a perfect Valentine’s Weekend, topped off with beautiful gifts from my gorgeous boyfriend. Although the problem now is that I’ve been completely spoiled by two Valentine’s dinners. I’m going to expect it every year now!

(Unfortunately I didn’t manage to get any photos of the delicious dinner at Coco Bello, but it all looked amazing!)
